Deleting data in any database is always risky as the wrong data may be deleted. Also, deleting data may leave holes in the database. For example, if a vehicle is deleted from the database, the job cards will be assigned to nothing.
System auditors also require that the data cannot be deleted to be compliant. If it was possible to delete certain data, then the system could not be used in certain industries or geographical locations. For example, it should not be possible to delete job cards after a fatal accident to hide the repair history for a vehicle.
Accordingly, deleting data is limited in Assetminder to maintain data integrity. The correct course of action is to retire assets, set user's leaving dates, close job cards as inactive etc.
