Mobile App Troubleshooting Guide (Android)

Common app issues

An application issue could be caused by either the phone or the application itself. Some general errors on apps built for Android include:

  • Crashing
  • Won’t open
  • Won’t respond
  • Job Card not synced
  • Grey Login Screen (usually troubleshooting step 3 - reset the cache)

Follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve the issue. If problems still continue after you've tried these troubleshooting steps, please email Assetminder tech support tickest@assetminder.help

Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1. Restart your phone

1. Log out of the Assetminder app

2. Press your phone's power button. On the screen, tap Restart

3. If you don't see "Restart," press your phone's power button for about 30 seconds, until your phone restarts.

4. Open the Assetminder app and log in

5. Check that the issues have been resolved

Step 2. Check for Updates for the Assetminder App

1. On your phone, open the Google Play Store app

2. Tap Menu on the top left-hand side

3. Click My apps & games

4. Apps with available updates are labelled "Update." If an update is available, click Update.

5. When the update is complete, restart the app.

3. Reset the app cache / clear data

Note - completing this section will wipe any data which has not synchronised with the database. Any inspections or clockings that do not appear on the web will be lost.

1. Open your device settings screen

2. Scroll down to Apps (may be worded slightly differently on your version of Android)

3. Search for the Assetminder App

4. Click Storage

5. Click Clear Data and Clear Cache

6. When the Cache is cleared, the Cache Space Used will show 0B

7. Exit Settings and reopen the Assetminder app on your phone

8. Login using your credentials.

9. The Initial Sync will begin, if any messages appear on the screen then click on Wait.

4. Reset the Assetminder App Data

Note - completing this section will wipe any data which has not synchronised with the database. Any inspections or clockings that do not appear on the web will be lost.

1. Resetting the app data forces the app to download all the data again from the database. Follow Troubleshooting Step 3 to open the app storage screen

2. In the App Storage screen, click Clear Data

3. Exit Settings and reopen the Assetminder app on your phone

5. Force Stop the Assetminder app

1. Follow Troubleshooting Step 3 to open the App Settings screen

2. In the App Info screen, click Force Stop

3. Exit Settings and reopen the Assetminder app on your phone
